The Email Agent turns your hiring inbox into an ATS. Connect the mailbox where candidates already apply, and the agent reads it for you: resume emails to the job's +CODE address become scored applicants, routine replies and sends are automated, and interview scheduling runs through your calendar. The product page is the [Email Agent](/email-agent/).

## What does the Email Agent do?

The Email Agent reads the hiring inbox you connect, Gmail or Microsoft 365, and turns each resume email sent to a job's +CODE address into a scored applicant in Curriculo ATS. It sends routine candidate replies and books interviews through your calendar. Without a connected inbox, every published job still has its own apply address.

## Two ways to run it

**Connected inbox (the full agent).** Add your email account from Settings and grant access. The agent ingests hiring email arriving at your own address with the job's +CODE. This is the recommended setup.

**No mailbox connected (native fallback).** Every published job has its own Application Email on curriculo.me. Candidates email a resume to it and the applicant is created. Zero connection required.

You can start on the fallback address today and connect your inbox later; both feed the same pipeline.

## Prerequisites

You need a Curriculo organization and a published job. Copying the apply address needs access to that job. Connecting a mailbox needs an org admin.

## Setup A. Connect your hiring inbox

Go to **Settings**, then **Organization**.

Two cards:

- **Google Workspace / Gmail**, with one **Connect** button and the checkboxes **Email Sending**, **Inbox Sync**, and **Calendar**
- **Microsoft 365 / Outlook**, with one **Connect** button and the checkboxes **Email Sending**, **Inbox Sync**, and **Calendar & Teams**

Keep all three ticked when you click **Connect**. They are on by default and cannot be changed once connected:

- **Inbox Sync** lets the agent read the mailbox and ingest resume emails sent to your own address with the job's +CODE into scored applicants.
- **Email Sending** lets your team send from your own address: follow-ups and your messages on the Conversation tab.
- **Calendar** (on Microsoft, **Calendar & Teams**) lets interview scheduling create real events and meeting links.

You can connect one mailbox per organization. Microsoft 365 is for work accounts only.

## Setup B. The per-job Application Email

Open the job. On the create-job form the field is **Application Email**. On the job overview card, use **Copy Email**.

The address must start with `engg+` and end with `@curriculo.me`. Example shape: `engg+CODE@curriculo.me`.

With no mailbox connected, this is the only ingested address: mail sent to your own domain is not picked up. With a connected inbox, both work.

## Send a test resume

Email a resume to the job address (or, with Inbox Sync on, to your connected address with the job's +CODE). The applicant shows up on the job in about a minute. The job address is checked about every 45 seconds.

## What candidates receive

The agent sends these on its own. They use fixed templates. You do not approve them first, and you cannot edit the template.

- Missing required details: questions
- Complete application: a message that says Application received
- Paused job, or an attachment the agent cannot use: its own automatic reply

The new applicant lands in the first pipeline stage. Automations on that stage can send email, notify the team, schedule an interview, or send a self-schedule link.

You reply yourself on the candidate **Conversation** tab. The resume email is shown there, marked with a paperclip.

## Troubleshooting

**Nothing showing.** On the fallback address, check that it starts with `engg+` and ends with `@curriculo.me`, then wait about 45 seconds. For a connected inbox, check that **Inbox Sync** is on for the right mailbox; the refresh control, tooltip **Sync emails from Gmail** (job toolbar: **Reload**), re-syncs a connected Gmail mailbox (admins only).

**Reconnect required.** This badge is on the Microsoft card only, with a **Reconnect** button. Google has no reconnect badge. An error that says unable to decrypt integration token means the same fix: reconnect the mailbox.

## Disconnect

Disconnect from the same Organization page. The button is **Disconnect**.

Disconnecting stops the agent reading the mailbox and sending from your address. Applicants already in Curriculo ATS stay.

## FAQ

### Do I need to connect my inbox for the Email Agent to work?

Connecting your inbox is what turns on the full agent: it reads your hiring mailbox, ingests resumes sent to your own address with the job's +CODE, lets your team send from your address, and manages calendars.

### The address on the job is on my company domain. Should I use it?

If your inbox is connected with Inbox Sync on, yes: mail to your own address is ingested by the agent. If nothing is connected, use only the address that starts with engg+ and ends with @curriculo.me; without a connection, mail to your own domain is not ingested.

### How long until a test resume shows up?

About a minute. The job address is checked about every 45 seconds.

### What does Reconnect required mean?

The Microsoft 365 connection needs a fresh sign-in. Use the Reconnect button on the Microsoft 365 / Outlook card. The same fix applies if you see unable to decrypt integration token.

### Does Disconnect delete applicants?

No. Disconnecting stops the agent reading and sending from your address. Applicants already in Curriculo ATS stay.

### Can I use a personal Outlook.com account?

No. Microsoft 365 support is for work accounts. Personal outlook.com and hotmail accounts are not supported. Gmail accounts, including personal ones, are supported (one mailbox per organization).
